I had a bit of a personal scare this AM when I heard this news as most of my family is on vacation in Maui at the moment. Thankfully they’re all fine and didn’t even have to evacuate the hotel.

Doing some research at work tonight I stumbled across this figure from a professor of evolutionary anthropology. Basically he believes that you can only have a meaningful relationship with a limited number of people, regardless of how many “friends” you have on facebook.
