Just finished The Rules of Civility. I was captivated by the characters, gals about town in 1930s NYC, and the way they spoke. Gutsy, witty and bold, these ladies knew their way around a retort. But I also loved the Walker Evans photos peppered throughout the book, it really solidified a since of time and place as I read.
