For those of you sticking around NYC during Thanksgiving might I suggest you cruise by the balloon blow up happening on the UWS tomorrow. I went a few years ago and it was a spectacular sight (and not as crowded at the parade itself the following day).
77th to 81st Streets between Central Park West & Columbus Aves with entrance at 79th St. and Columbus Ave.
