I have seen some of these described in different ways. The macchiato in particular I have seen described in at least three other ways. Can any coffee nerds or baristas confirm the above chart? Also, what do you coffee nerds think is the best coffee shop in NYC? One of my favorites is Cafe Grumpy on 20th between 7th & 8th in Chelsea.This is mostly correct— For lattes there is usually just a thin layer of foam, not necessarily 1/3 a cup of foam.
Macchiato means “marked” and so it’s essentially espresso “marked” with a dollop of foam. Some people prefer one spoonful of foam, and some people want 2 inches of foam— Both are espresso macchiatos, but just customized for personal preference.
Also.. Brooke Shields told me Grumpy’s was her allll time favorite coffee place. I thought it was OK. : )
