I have this cute little book. I actually first read it while I was living in LA, my boss Diane had it on her desk and I used to flip through it all the time. Here’s some of my favorite insights:
- On out of the tunnel vision: I see more of what is going on around me because I’m not concerned with finding a parking place.
- On fate: If someone steals your cab, then it wasn’t your cab.
- On choosing a mate: You can’t go with the person you loves you. That means nothing. You have to be with the person who you love.
- On travel: To travel is to spread your life all over the world.
- On jealousy: You see in other people what you want for yourself.
- On one great love: It’s ‘when you’re with me, you’re killing me. You you’re not, I’m dying’.
- Why it’s lonely at the top: Some people, they prefer you when you fail.
- On guilty pleasure: Never be embarrassed about something you like.
- On identity crises: Whatever you become, someone will long for what you were.
- On culpability: Democracy is only because everyone wants others to share the blame.
